National Museum of Natural History
 



This museum is dedicated to understanding the natural world and our place in it.  Established in 1910, the Museum of Natural History is the second most popular of all of the Smithsonian museums.  The collections include over 125 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts.  Notable exhibits  include the Family Hall of Mammals and the museum's  Hall of Dinosaurs.  Other exhibits detail the evolution of life on Earth, and  the National Gem Collection includes the Hope Diamond.
