The U.S. Navy Memorial
and Naval Heritage Center in Washington DC were built to honor the sailors
of the U.S. Navy. The plaza has a mast and the statue of the Lone
Sailor. The memorial centerpiece is a 100 foot diameter granite map of
the world surrounded by relief sculptural depictions of historic events in
US Naval history. The water in the fountains is actual
seawater.
